Pie Pumpkins

Pie pumpkins are actually a type of winter squash. Field pumpkins, like those used for jack o' lanterns, have a dry, flavorless flesh and are best to avoid for cooking or baking. The pie pumpkins, however, can be roasted or turned into soups just like other delicious varieties of winter squash. You can also bake, roast, mash, or puree these tasty pumpkins.
